Japan novels, armor and ornament

Recently I had the pleasure to work on one of the legendary ghost stories writer Lafcadio Hearn. He wrote Japanese legends and ghost stories and he is great! :) Here's my cover…

Comic Strip By Pavel Guzenko
What we can learn by sharing, right? What I like i What we can learn by sharing, right? What I like in this story and what I think sets it apart from the similar story by Douglas Adams are two contrasting yet similar reactions: a sense of disbelief, surprise, and terror. Douglas Adams, my all-time favorite comic, used to poke fun at Britishness and reflect on social norms and behaviors in England in his story about cookies. Personally, I have mixed feelings about jokes that target national labels or perpetuate harmful stereotypes, including those related to accents or other national identities. In my opinion, the strongest parts of this story are the surprise reaction in the middle and at the end. Despite the aggressive perception of the situation, there is also something positive in the sharing process. And if not that, then simply the absurdity of the situation should leave you amused. In the end, you may even feel a sudden urge to find and read the original cookie story by Douglas Adams - the sweetest piece of humor that I clumsily attempted to share with you… with him… ahhh…

To begin with a disclaimer: this comic strip and t To begin with a disclaimer: this comic strip and this text were done by a naturally not very intelligent being. This is incredible how fast this technology makes people believe in its might when it cannot even know how many fingers humans have on one hand. Why would people even call something intelligent that makes such arrogant mistakes! Even in simple kids’ puzzles. The other day Bing told me that I need to “move on” after several questions about what washing machine I should buy. Apparently it was afraid that the conversation about washing machines might go off the rails. In other instances chatGPT refused to make malicious code, but when request was rephrased in simpler words it surely did it. Is being intelligent still a good thing? It’s fascinating that people rushed to throw money at “generative ai” to get really crappy, smudged and copyright infringing results. But don’t get me wrong. As we all see now to improve these results you need to do a proper prompt. The internet is now full of articles, courses and “professional” assistants to help you make a good prompt. It turns out that it cannot steal and mix properly any art or texts unless you feed it a good seed of creativity. Well, we can definitely say for sure that since ai is evolving the current stage is the ugliest as it could be… Unless it's not… All this makes me think of the movie Existenz with Jude Law back from 1999. Just picture the tool made of skin, flash and bones connected to our bodies by umbilical cords and feeding from our sense of reality makes it more relatable to our times than any other sci fi movie.

These machines finally found the way to “build t These machines finally found the way to “build their own theme park with blackjack and hookers”.
But everything in this theme park was l̶e̶a̶r̶n̶e̶d̶ taken from other places and people without any consent. Hate to state the obvious, but consent means looking for the presence of a “yes” rather than the absence of a “no”. Many tech nerds got so excited that they can get so much for so little that they had their heads turned. These machines will learn and improve their knowledge, but not the learning process gets people so excited. We all know what turns people on, don’t we? Clicking a button and getting something quick and of such great value that amaze literally everyone. Such great efficiency of this effortless production! Especially when everyone knows deep inside that the author's rights were violated and this is the main reason why it’s so cheap and fast. Let’s be honest with each other, as torrents didn’t improve the musician’s lives, this kind of stealing someone’s creativity won’t improve artists' lives as well.

I am very delighted to see united pushback from the CG community on Artstation website! I am glad to see that artists are ready to stand for each other this time around. Artist’s solidarity isn’t something that can be enjoyed or seen very often. Human artists should stick together!
